Thomas works as a Creative Technologist at IXDS. His role is to build prototypes, both software and hardware, and depending on the project, to pick the appropriate technology.
Thomas studied computer science at LMU München. Prior to this, he worked as a storeman (Lagerist) and studied teaching (Lehramt Informatik und Mathematik fuer Gymnasium). During his studies, he worked as a freelancer, mainly programming web apps and websites. In collaboration with different artist collectives, he also designed and programmed software for installations and performances.
Thomas enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team, where he can contribute his knowledge and experience and learn from others. His aim at IXDS is to support the design process from the very early stages by developing prototypes and tools to test ideas and concepts. In order to archive this, he uses and often contributes to, open source software.
On his fifth day, Thomas often plays music. He does live looping with different instruments and musical gear. By developing audio plugins and musical instruments he builds the bridge between music and coding.
