Reto is the founder of IXDS and Design Director of IXDS, responsible for the overall design strategy. He also supervises selected projects, both for clients and for our internal Ventures.
Besides his involvement at IXDS, Reto is a Professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Potsdam. In 2004 he was one of the founding members of Germany's first BA and MA program for interface design; within this program he teaches courses in both physical interaction design and service design. In his research, he explores innovative, body-focused approaches to human-computer-interaction and new methods in innovation, mostly based on the startup approach.
Reto previously worked as an Associate Professor at the Interaction Design Institute in Ivrea, and as a designer/researcher with Sony in Tokyo and Ideo in San Francisco. He studied Industrial Design at UdK Berlin and Mechanical Engineering at TU Berlin. Prior to his studies, Reto conducted an apprenticeship as a stonemason in Southern Germany.
His aim at IXDS is to use technology to support individuals to live up to their dreams – at the same time as being sustainable with personal and natural recourses.
In his spare time, Reto is a passionate flaneur and gardener.
