David, designer at IXDS Munich, has a background in visual design and teaching. David is interested in research through creative design: exploring and understanding a subject by making things. Are maps the truth? Can a map based on subjective data have the same value as traditional cartography? Through a series of connected projects, David explores the perception of maps in various cultures and their role as a designed object. Using Europe as a case study, he redesigns a map of the continent that looks quite different from what we might expect.
Our very own David Normington will talk about data visualization in his talk "Europe as an Island".
