Maptime Meetup Mapping New Perspectives

IXDS Berlin Paul-Lincke-Ufer 39-40, 10999
We are happy to welcome the Maptime crew back after their summer break, as they kick off another round of great talks and tutorials. Even if you're new to mapping come along and check it out!

Lucas Verweij (@Lucas_Berlin) will be leading into the new season. Lucas is a journalist, educator & curator from Berlin. He writes, teaches and speaks about design and he is making maps. He will be talking about his personal perspective on maps and map making.

Harald Schernthanner (@hatschito) will talk about "Offline navigation and OpenStreetMap (OSM) mapping in Nicaragua". He will give a quick overview and review about his experiences with offline navigation apps and howsuitable they were while traveling in Nicaragua. Further he will tell us about his OpenStreetMap mapping experiences in the remote region of northern Nicaragua, where he mapped a coffee farm and a historical mine. Hopefully his short talk will lead to an interesting discussion about offline-navigation and OSM mapping.

Sebastian Meier (@seb_meier) is going to introduce one of his latest mapping projects on personal perspectives on space by presenting his project on mental maps. The project resulted in a 3D printed artefact, which represents personal movement in urban spaces. He will provide insights into the technology and process behind it.

And maybe another surprise talk.
